How to verify a 10K stamp
Look for 10K or 417 inside ring bands and on clasp tongues. Because 10K is the palest karat, it's the one most often mistaken for costume metal. A quick acid or XRF test at any buyer's counter settles it, and a magnet screens the crudest fakes (gold is never magnetic).
